Solenoid Directional Valve Working Principle

The solenoid directional valve is an actuator that can be automatically opened through electrical control. Due to the low overall cost, a new valve is usually replaced when a malfunction occurs. Solenoid directional valves are widely used in construction machinery in China due to their small size, high degree of automation, and easy operation. Solenoid directional valve is a common device in construction machinery, with many types that can be installed in different positions according to different requirements of the control system. Due to its simple overall structure, low cost, convenient operation, and maintenance, it has a wide range of applications. The working principle of a solenoid directional valve is relatively simple, mainly controlling the direction, flow rate, speed, and other parameters of the fluid through electromagnetic control. It has strong sensitivity and accuracy and can meet the needs of various operating environments.

Working principle of solenoid directional valve
Although there are many types of electromagnetic directional valves, their working principles are basically the same. The electromagnetic directional valve mainly consists of a valve body, valve core, spring, armature, and an electromagnetic coil. After electrification, electromagnetic iron can control the direction, flow rate, speed, and other parameters of fluid media such as gas and liquid. The working principle of the electromagnetic directional valve is relatively simple. There is a closed cavity inside the valve body. According to actual needs, holes will be opened at different positions of the cavity to communicate with the outside world, and each hole will be connected to the corresponding pipeline. Install a valve core in the middle of the cavity, which will be integrated with the armature, and install electromagnets and springs on both sides. Which side of the electromagnetic coil is energized will generate a certain amount of electromagnetic force. When the electromagnetic force exceeds the spring force, it will attract the valve core and control the opening or closing of the outer hole through the movement of the valve core. When the electromagnetic coil is energized or powered off, the valve core will move left and right, and the spring plays a certain buffering role during the movement to prevent the valve core from causing excessive impact on the valve body.

Advantages of solenoid directional valve

Firstly, the solenoid directional valve generates electromagnetic force by energizing the electromagnetic coil, attracting the valve core sealed in the valve body to swing, effectively avoiding fluid leakage phenomena like automatic control valves. Meanwhile, due to its relatively stable structure, it can effectively control the movement of the valve stem and avoid internal leakage. These advantages determine that electromagnetic steering valves can have a broader application environment.

Secondly, due to the relatively simple structure of the solenoid valve itself, the relevant components have been generalized and standardized, greatly reducing the production cost of the product. Due to the electromagnetic valve being controlled by switch signals, it can effectively connect with PLC and computer systems in the production environment of electrical automation, making it easy to be widely used in the production environment of electrical automation.

Thirdly, the solenoid directional valve is very sensitive and can quickly respond to actions in a short period of time, effectively improving work efficiency. At the same time, the electromagnetic valve has a compact structure and low power consumption of the electromagnetic coil, effectively reducing operating costs.

Fourthly, there are various types of solenoid valves that can meet the needs of various users.

Troubleshooting measures for solenoid directional valve faults

Because the structure of the solenoid directional valve is relatively simple and the fault location is relatively fixed, maintenance can be carried out based on the cause of the fault in each part. If the valve core is worn, it can be slightly polished; If there is significant wear, chromium plating can be used, but the surface roughness of the repaired valve core should meet the standard requirements. The repair of valve body holes can be done with diamond reamers for grinding or precision grinding; The repair of the push rod needs to be determined based on the type of electromagnet. In dry electromagnets, if there are scratches on the surface of the push rod, the push rod can be replaced. If the push rod is too long, it can be shortened appropriately. For the repair of electromagnets, if the machining accuracy of the moving and fixed iron cores is not up to standard, the contact surface can be polished with an oilstone while removing surface dirt. If the coil burns, it can be rewound. The maintenance of solenoid valves is relatively simple, mainly because after understanding the working principle and combining practical experience, the fault point can be quickly located and repaired.
